IN0007: AI Engineer (Full-Stack) Paid Internship
Duration: 0-6 months
About the Role
Intants Private Limited builds AI-powered enterprise products for Defence, Government, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Finance, Education, and Enterprise Operations. We build practical, production-ready software that solves real business problems using artificial intelligence, automation, modern application development, and enterprise integrations.
This is a hands-on engineering role spanning frontend, backend, and AI implementation. You will own features end to end: build them, test them, deploy them, monitor them, and fix them when they break.
Engineers here aren't limited to tickets written by someone else. As you build context in your first few months, you'll move from implementing features to shaping them: joining client conversations, turning requirements into technical specs, and making architecture decisions with the team.
What You'll Do
- Build frontend applications using React.js, Next.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Develop backend services and REST APIs using Node.js
- Design and query PostgreSQL databases, and build sound data models
- Build AI-powered features using large language models
- Develop LLM pipelines that turn documents and unstructured data into structured outputs
- Build validation mechanisms that catch incorrect or incomplete AI-generated output before it reaches a user
- Write unit tests and integration tests, and debug what they surface
- Deploy applications, monitor them in production, and troubleshoot live issues
- Write clean, maintainable, scalable code
- Take complete ownership of the features assigned to you
What We're Looking For
These are the skills we'll actually test in the interview process:
- Frontend: JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, Next.js App Router, HTML, CSS, and a utility CSS framework such as Tailwind
- Backend: Node.js and Express.js (or similar), REST API design, request validation, error handling, and authentication with JWT or OAuth2
- Database: PostgreSQL and SQL, including joins, indexes, transactions, JSONB, and data modelling from a real business requirement
- AI and LLMs: hands-on experience with at least one LLM API (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or similar), prompt engineering, structured outputs, and context and token management
- Git and GitHub with a real branching workflow, plus Docker and deployment basics
- A GitHub profile with genuine commit history, and at least one project or application you've built and deployed
- Non-negotiable: you must be a 4th-year (final-year) student or have already graduated, and you must be willing to work in person from our Bangalore office for the duration of the internship
Technical Background (Flexible)
Strong plus, not required, but these move an application to the top of the pile:
- RAG in production: chunking, embeddings, hybrid search, re-ranking, and vector search (pgvector, Qdrant, Weaviate, Pinecone, or similar)
- Agentic systems and orchestration frameworks: LangGraph, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, or the OpenAI Agents SDK
- Python with FastAPI and Pydantic for AI services
- Document intelligence: OCR, layout and table parsing, end-to-end PDF pipelines
- Background jobs and queues, durable workflow engines, or real-time delivery over WebSockets/SSE
- AWS, Azure, or GCP, and application security fundamentals (OWASP Top 10, secrets management, encryption)
- An application that's been used by real users, prior experience at a product company, or open source contributions
- Fluent use of Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, and the judgement to know when their output is wrong
- Available to work Monday to Saturday, in person from our Bangalore office
What You'll Gain
- Direct, day-to-day interaction with the founders
- Real ownership of production features from the start
- Exposure to real client requirements across Defence, Government, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Finance, and Education
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, OCR, AI agents, and enterprise automation
- Within your first few months: participating in client discussions, converting requirements into technical specs, and designing application architecture, workflows, and APIs
- Potential for a full-time offer based on performance
Compensation Structure
Stipend: Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 per month, based on experience and performance in the interview process.
Interview Process
Rounds may be virtual or in person; the exact process is confirmed with shortlisted candidates:
- Initial screening discussion
- Technical interview
- Coding or practical assignment
- Project and founder discussion
- In-person round at the Bangalore office
Who Should Apply
- 4th-year students or recent graduates with strong hands-on project work
- Solid understanding of frontend, backend, APIs, and databases
- Practical exposure to LLM APIs and AI-assisted application development
- Ability to explain technical decisions clearly in writing
- Ability to make progress without step-by-step direction, and to ask the right questions when stuck
- Follow-through: you close what you open, without repeated reminders
